Kirin are shy creatures roughly based on a mixture of deer and dragon characteristics. They are delicate beasts with an affinity for large open fields. They are well known for being able to run throughout the world without stepping on a single petal or harming any creature. The mere sight of one of a Kirin is considered a very good omen.

Each Kirin is associated with a particular auspice. This affects the nature of the beast and influences the caretaker's luck. Very rarely there also occur "negative" Kirin, which may be associated with such auspices as death, doubt, fear, etc. The genetics of the Kirin are largely unknown and their breeding habits are poorly understood at this time.
